in indonesia, a non-star hotel like this is usually called "hotel melati" melati means jasmine in english. it's not because the name of the hotel has something to do with jasmine, or the hotel smelled like jasmine 😂 but it's because it's a small hotel with minimum standard. the price is affordable with decent facilities. maybe like a motel in the west?

All those art work will scare the hell out of me when I go to sleep with the light off 😅 I visit Bali twice and both times, me and my friends choose a cheap accommodation rather than the expensive one. You barely spend time in your hotel anyway there's no need for a fancy hotel. This type of hotel is everywhere in Bali. They usually located in small road with a pretty difficult access for cars, but since you mostly go there on a plane and only rented a scooter during your visit, it doesn't really matter
